Are Millets More Effective in Managing Hyperlipidaemia and Obesity than Major Cereal Staples? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Millets are important staples across developing countries in Asia and Africa. A previous systematic review meta-analysis showed that eating millets significantly controlled hyperlipidaemia obesity by focusing on a comparison of pre- post-intervention measurements. This study further provides the effects consumption analysing against other staple grains using difference-in-differences method, where were computed Standardised Mean Difference scale. Thus, only studies included control group as well baseline included. The results from twelve eligible blood lipid profile show significant (p < 0.05) favourable consuming compared to (rice, wheat, quinoa). Specifically, total cholesterol, triacylglycerol, very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels −0.44, −0.29, −0.41, respectively 0.05), while effect high-density level was +0.59 0.05). In addition, body mass index −0.60 respectively, with p = 0.06 each. While this strengthens evidence contributes reducing risks hyperlipidaemia, therefore cardiovascular diseases, more detailed rigorous recommended.
